Home away from home...

This was the lovely view from our room in New York:

Actually, the room was great, what was outside the window left a little to be desired, though. Which is ok, cause really we were there to see shows, not sit in the room and stare out the window. The shows we were able to see (in this order) were: Avenue Q , Forbidden Broadway SVU , The Drowsy Chaperone, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time at the theatre seeing some really awesome musicals. The Drowsy Chaperone was by far our favorite. If you get a chance to see it, YOU MUST!!!! Avenue Q is also a must see - extremely clever and funny.

Now, we also met up with friends who live in NY. This is the view from the balcony of their apartment:

Another friend who lives in NY works at the Metropolitan Opera in the costume shop, and we were fortunate to get a tour of the costume shop and other areas of the Met. It was really amazing to see what goes on behind the scenes. I think opera might be on the agenda the next time we go to NY...

And I'm sorry to say that we didn't get to a yarn shop while in NY. We were having a theatre fix, which hasn't happened in about 5 years, so we were really focused on plays, and eating, and plays, and eating, and plays... Well, you get the picture! LOL!

Sounds like you all had lots of fun! Good thing you got to go out and see those shows! I can only imagine how much imagination you'd need looking out the window!

Oh Paul..welcome home! And I'm glad you had such a super time. Thanks for sharing the views. I must say your friends are truly lucky to have that to look out on. When I watched the Tonys I thought that the Drowsy Chaperone looked to be fun, and am glad that it was even better than that!

Let's see...Wicked is just now getting here so it will be awhile but maybe I'll get to see it eventually.

Oh, it all sounds wonderful! I'm glad you had a nice time. It doesn't always have to be about yarn. (I can't believe I said that!) :)

Wow sounds like you had a grand time. I'm so envious, I love the city - I think I need another trip but I'll wait until fall when the weather cools.

Can't wait for you to get back.

LOL Karen - I can't believe you said that either LOL.

You know, I think I recognize that view -- Midtown? I hope you get to an opera soon -- you will be hooked. Sounds like the trip was great fun. Thanks for popping in to visit me in the blogosphere recently - glad you liked the Snake River pix. It was so awesome to see in person!

Sounds like fun! You definetly should try to take in an opera at the Met if you have the chance -- it is truly a wonderful experience. Next time you are in town, if you have a chance, give a ring -- I'd love to meet.
