Long day...

So, it as a long, wet day. I was at a marching band competition, which concluded with a 3 hour long parade with about 35 marching bands strutting their stuff. I was not in charge of this yearly event, but I did volunteer to help with the electronic tabulation of the scores for each band. This basically meant that I'd put data into the computer, given to us by the judge's scoresheets, and double check the scores with 3 other people, and rank the outcomes. Usually a big event in our community, the crowds were a little smaller today because of the constant rain we had today. Cancelling the parade was discussed, but that would only happen if it began thundering and lightning. It did not, so we had thousands of kids marching and playing, and thousands of parents and spectators, all getting wetter by the minute. And where was I during all of this? We, the tabulators, were situated in a school bus with our lap top computers. We did not really see much of the parade - we were busy with score sheets from the judges. We heard it, but were glued to our computers. So basically, I spent my day in a bus with my computer, and a couple of very fun, wacky people. We laughed frequently, and, in hindsight, it was a good day.

This is my favorite tree on the school campus. Notice the grey sky. This was at the brightest part of the day, when the raining had stopped for about 45 minutes...

I'm hoping to cast on for my socks tomorrow. I'm kinda getting antsy to get them started.

Don't you just love the sound of a school band? I live not too far from a school campus and in the summer when they are practicing I can hear them if I'm standing outside. I've always loved a tune with heavy percussion.

Sounds like a fun day even with the rain. It has been raining here for the last two days and we were supposed to have sunny skies today...no such luck!
